Stick Incense Production

Water Dipping
The bamboo sticks are dipped into water, using a metal plate to gauge the water depth. Master craftsmen often say, “If the water flows smoothly, the incense will be made well.” This step relies on the craftsman’s accumulated experience, where eyes and hands work as one. Well-prepared incense sticks must enter and leave the water slowly to ensure even absorption.

Powder Coating
The moistened bamboo sticks are then coated with one of the most essential incense-making materials: nanmu (camphor) tree bark powder. This powder is made by finely grinding the bark of the nanmu tree, which naturally becomes adhesive when it comes into contact with water.

Spreading the Incense
Known as the “incense fan motion,” this technique involves spreading the incense sticks in the hand like fireworks, ensuring each stick separates without sticking to others. This allows the incense powder to adhere evenly to every single stick.

A fundamental yet critical skill in incense making. Though it appears simple, it is one of the key steps determining the success of the incense. The craftsman skillfully and evenly distributes the powder onto the bamboo stick, ensuring the incense body and adhesive powder bond perfectly.

In the craftsman’s hands, the incense sticks fall onto the drying racks like flowing clouds and water. This step primarily dries the powder-coated portion of the incense.

The base of the incense stick is dyed with naturally infused safflower rice water, giving it an auspicious peach-red hue.

1、All raw materials for agarwood, sandalwood, and herbal incense are carefully sourced from premium medicinal herbs. The herbs are ground into fine powders and blended according to traditional formulas to achieve the perfect ratio.
2、Absolutely no artificial fragrances, essential oils, perfumes, synthetic fragrances, lime, chemical binders, potassium nitrate accelerants, smoke suppressants, miscellaneous wood fibers, or other unnecessary chemical additives are used.
